The UK Budget Brings Forward Fifty Million Pounds To Speed Up The Modernisation Of Armed Forces Accommodation

The announcement came during Alistair Darling's Budget Speech to the House Of Commons. The advancement of the cash should see improvements and refurbishment of service accommodation earlier than previously planned

2 Rifles Takes Over From 45 Commando In Helmand Province

The troops are part of 19 Light Brigade which took over responsibility for Helmand province at the beginning of April, and they will receive support during their time in Afghanistan from all three Services, which in total will make up a Battle Group of more than 1100 troops

First point of call for veterans

A specialist centre providing support and advice for veterans and their families has been opened in Edinburgh, the 6th of 6 to be opened in the UK. The purpose of the "Veterans First Point" facility is to help ex-service personnel reintegrate into civilian life.. It's staffed by veterans and will provide treatment for post-traumatic stress, anxiety and depression and users will get advice on how to find and fund academic or practical training which will help them start a new career
