British Soldiers praise Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF).
1 Mercian have been speaking about how Afghan forces are now delivering security in and around the area of Nad-e-Ali.

The Army have been talking about the ways it's helping soldiers with transition from military to civilian life.
Speaking on Garrison FM's Army HQ live from Andover programme, the Army's Director of Personnel Services Brigadier John Donnelly says they look closely at a number of key areas before someone leaves the service and that there are many agency's available to provide ongoing help and advice.

British Army Chefs have rosated the opposition at this years' National Cookery Competition.
At the culinary spectacular held at the NEC in Birmingham, Army chefs won 11 of the top awards up for grabs.

Paratroopers have been on the receiving end of verbal abuse and petrol bombs as part of their latest training.

Cities, towns and villages are all being asked to apply for funding to hold events as part of the nationwide Armed Forces Day campaign, held in honour of our Servicemen and womwn past and present.

British Personnel to join EU Mission To Mali.
The UK will contribute 40 personnel to the European Union Training Mission in Mali, the Defence Secretary has announced. Infantry, mortar and artillery training teams will deploy to Mali to work with Malian armed forces currently fighting extremists in the African country.

UK Heroes are to get 'bionic' legs.
War heroes from Iraq and Afghanistan who have lost their legs will now have access to the most technologically advanced prosthetics after the Government make over 6 million pounds available.

Ground-breaking TV adverts live from Afghanistan are hoping to attract more people to join the reserves.
The TA-LIVE campaign is being aired live from military operations over the next couple of weeks as part of a new initiative to encourage more people to get involved with the Territorial Army (TA)

1 Scots continue with their deployment of Afghanistan as part of Op' Herrick 17.
With Christmas and New year now a distant memory, they're looking forward to coming home in the next few weeks.

The Defence Minister and Minister for the Disabled have announced a new financial benefit to be paid to injured veterans.
From April this year those seriously injured in service for their country will receive 7 thousand pounds a per annum for the rest of their life.

2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland (2 Scots) are preparing for their next deployment to Afghanistan.
During Op' Herrick 18 they will  take up the role of Police Mentoring and Advisory Group. (PMAG) They'll be training, advising and assisiting at District level in the country

The next deployment of British Forces to Afghanistan have been undergoing final preparations.
Many of those being deployed as part of Op' Herrick 18 will be returning to the country once again but this time it will be with a different role to play.

The Commander of 1 Mechanized Brigade says 'insider attacks' on coalition troops must be kept in perspective.
Brigadier Rupert Jones says that the vast majority of Afghan Military and Police are on the side of ISAF and these incidents are from a tiny minority and the best way to combat this is to stay 'shoulder to shoulder' with their Afghan partners.

It has been announced that 1 Mechanized Brigade will be taking over the role of Task Force Helmand in the Spring of 2013.
Operation Herrick 18 will be a joint Task Force, led by 1 Mech Brigade with supporting elements from all 3 services and working closely with the Afghan National Army.

The man expected to lead the pullout of NATO troops from Afghanistan has now taken up his post as ISAF Commander.
US Marine, General Joseph Dunford Junior's first challenge will be to escalate the transfer of responsibility from western troops to the Afghan police and army.

Soldiers from 2nd Battalion The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment have stepped down from ceremonial duties.
Z company completed the final guards for Buckingham Palace, The Tower of London and Windsor Castle

The Royal Dragoon Guards have been speaking about their successes in Helmand Province.
They've been able to support a large number of ANSF (Afghan National Security Forces) operations recently which have lead to the discovery of weapons and large quantities of IED's and narcotics.

The Army has released the latest in a series of films aimed at helping service personnel and their families.
The latest edition is titled 'Redundancy-Compensation and Benefits' is geared towards those leaving the military over the coming months.

The Defence Secretary visits UK troops in Afghanistan.
Philip Hammond witnessed first-hand the security transition to the Afghan National Security Forces, with a trip to Patrol Base Wahid where he met with members of 1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles.

There's to be improved support to Deployed Reservists Families.
Additional staff are being recruited to improve reserve units current welfare provision, recruiting, retention, Civil Engagement and Employer liaison. 76 new posts are being created by summer 2013

Army Radio News - 06 Feb 2013

Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai talks about Prince Harry, the coalition forces and the fruture of his country.
The President has spoken about 'insider attacks' on coalition troops and the comments made by Prince Harry whilst on deployment in Helmand Province.

The charity Help for Heroes has been speaking about their future role after passing yet another fundraising milestone.
Co-founder Emma Parry OBE says although the charity has raised over 150 million pounds now, they're in this for the long term and have many plans for continuing to provide help to injured service personnel.

Afghanistan and Pakistan say they'll work towards a peace deal within six months.
Speaking in Britain President Hamid Karzai and Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari said they would "take all necessary measures" to acheive such a goal.

Gurkha troops based in Helmand Province have handed control to Afghan Police after finally securing peace in the area of Nah-e Bughra.
Know as Patrol Base 4, it was once named 'The Heart of Darkness' which witnessed some of the campaign's most intense fighting.

Airborne Medics have battled with each other to find who's fittest in their unit.
Colchester-based 16 Medical Regiment which provides support to 16 Air Assault Brigade, the British Army's Rapid Reaction Force had to swim run and carry to win the title.

British soldiers in Helmand Province have become the first to use miniature surveillance helicopters in frontline operations.
The drones can fly around corners and obstacles to identify potential hidden dangers, the Ministry of Defence said.

Prime Minister David Cameron is hosting key talks on the Afghan peace process.
The dialogue involves the leaders of Pakistan and Afghanistan and will focus on cross-border security and how to engage the Taliban in future talks.

A team of injured servicemen are to attempt a world first.
In partnership with Help for Heroes, they're aiming to fly a microlight to the South Pole

The Army has conducted its largest ever virtual simulation exercise.
Soldiers from 2nd Battalion The Royal Welsh have just taken part in Urban Warrior 5 which has used advanced science and technology as part of a cutting-edge experiment designed to help the Army better understand the battlefield of the future. As many as 190 soldiers took part in the exercise at the Land Warfare Centre, Warminster.

The Queen's Royal Lancers have been busy in Afghanistan keeping a watch over insurgent activity.
Whilst out on patrol they lifted an IED facilitator, a Taliban Commander who directs people to devices.This was seen as a massive success for the Squadron

An Army Medic injured in Afghanistan is set to marry the soldier who  carried her to safety.
Haley Ridgeway ignored her own injuries to help others following an explosion. Fiance Scott Reading helped her to the helicopter and nursed her back to health after the ambush last August. Now they plan to marry later this month before returning to Helmand Province.
