The UK Thanks It's Armed Forces
Thousands of people across the world have paid tribute to the UK's military personnel, past, present and future, in the first ever Armed Forces Day - Hundreds of events took place in many different communities around the world from London to Afghanistan and Edinburgh to Gibraltar, with almost 200 events happening across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

The MOD has responded to a letter published in the UK media that claims that the Army is cutting its manpower levels, while another asks why the MOD doesn't withdraw the 20,000 British troops in Germany and deploy them elsewhere. The MOD says it's pure speculation to suggest that the Army is cutting its manpower levels ... and although it is true that the Army has 21,000 soldiers in Germany, they play a full part in current operations. Germany is simply the home base for these units

More than 350 soldiers from The Black Watch took part in the assault on one of the last Taliban strongholds. Twelve Chinook helicopters, supported by 13 other aircraft including Apache and Black Hawk helicopter gunships, a Spectre gunship, Harrier jets and unmanned drones, were backed up by Royal Engineers and counter-IED teams

The Ministry Of Defence Confirms That The Soldier Who Was Killed In Afghanistan On Friday Was Major Sean Birchall, from 1st Battalion Welsh Guards
Major Birchall was killed by an explosion whilst on patrol near Lashkar Gah, in Helmand Province - another soldier was injured in the incident
New Quad Bikes
The MOD has announced that 200 upgraded quad bikes have been ordered for use on the frontline in Afghanistan. The new all-terrain vehicles will boost the Armed Forces' ability to deliver vital combat supplies to troops on the ground

General Sir Richard Dannatt, who is due to stand down from his role as head of the Army at the end of August, has paid tribute to all that has been achieved by the Armed Forces in both Iraq and Afghanistan
Internal Transfer Fairs, Aid Retention and Save Money
The fairs give personnel the opportunity to consider a change of trade, capbadge or service ( to the Navy or The RAF) and in many cases also let personnel know about capbadge and corps opportunities they might not have been aware of

Defence Minister Kevan Jones and Colchester MP Bob Russell have taken part in a parachute jump from 13,000 feet, along with Army widow Victoria Bateman, to raise money for the airborne forces charity in memory of her husband - the jump took place on the first anniversary of the death of Lance Corporal James Bateman of 2 Para, who was killed alongside Private Jeff Doherty on Thursday 12 June 2008 in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, when their platoon was engaged by the Taliban in Helmand's Upper Gereshk Valley

He died as a result of an explosion whilst he was on a patrol near Gereshk in Helmand province

The first ever Armed Forces Day takes place later this month, on the 27 of June to give the British nation the chance to show its support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community

The Parachute Regiment has announced that it's looking for new officers .....and although it doesn't mind where they come from, be it another capbadge, or from civvie street, there are nevertheless certain attributes a potential officer must possess to be considered for selection

The MOD Confirms That A Soldier From 2 Rifles Was Killed In Afghanistan on Tuesday
The soldier was killed as a result of an explosion that happened whilst on a patrol near Gereshk. Next of kin have been informed and have asked for a period of grace before further details are released
The Army's Manning Figures Show Positive Results
... and a Senior Officer has told Garrison FM that there are a number of reasons why the Army's strength has shot up over the past year by almost 1000 people

The Army has been talking to Garrison FM about its support for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community within the Army - It has joined Stonewall, the gay rights organization, which also scrutinizes the Army's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender policies and from last year, the Army allowed soldiers attending Pride London to wear their Army uniform.
