Some of the greatest legends of Rugby Union will scrum down at Twickenham this Saturday for the Heroes Rugby Challenge - a battle of the Hemispheres with a H4H Northern Hemisphere XV taking on a Southern Hemisphere XV - and all to raise funds for Help For Heroes

The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards have proudly marched through Glasgow to mark their return from a tough but successful tour of duty in Helmand province

The Army Rugby Union team prepares to be presented with its World Cup winners trophy, at Twickenham, on Saturday
The team won the inaugural International Defence Rugby Competition, the IDRC, in Auckland.  It played in the shadow of the Rugby World Cup and came from the combined initiative of the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces who issued a challenge to defence forces around the world to join in a celebration of rugby

The MOD reveals that Afghan forces are to take on security lead for Nad Ali
The MOD has revealed that Afghanistan forces are to take lead responsibility for delivering security in a number of new areas across the country, including the Nad Ali district of Helmand province

Soldiers from 5 Rifles Support Afghan Forces in Operation Brave Cobra
More than 60 Riflemen guarded an area in the Babaji area of Nahr-e Saraj to allow the Afghan Uniform Police to build a new checkpoint to protect village residents from insurgents

British and Afghan troops take part in Operation Courageous Mountain
British and Afghan soldiers have launched an airborne operation into an isolated area of Helmand province which they have swept for any insurgent activity. Operation Courageous Mountain, was conducted by soldiers from C Company, 1 PWRR and troops from the Afghan National Army

Paratroopers train local troops in Sierra Leone
The MOD has revealed that four British paratroopers have been training Sierra Leonean troops in mortar firing, in preparation for an African Union mission in Somalia next year

The Prime Minister says training and mentoring in Afghanistan is on-track
David Cameron says British troops efforts in training and mentoring the Afghan National Army and Afghan Police is having a positive effect. The majority of British soldiers will leave Afghanistan by the end of 2014, with the Afghan National Army and Police able to take full control of security

The Duke Of Edinburgh presents campaign medals to the REME
Prince Philip has presented personnel from 2 Close Support Battalion REME with campaign medals following their demanding tour in Afghanistan, during a ceremony at Fallingbostel in northern Germany

An Army officer is named Chartered Manager Of The Year
Colonel Neale Moss was presented with the award from the Chartered Management Institute at a ceremony in London.  The accolade is presented annually to the manager who can prove use of excellent management and leadership skills and integrity to bring about significant positive change in their organisation


Tributes are paid to Private Thomas Lake from 1 PWRR, who was killed in Afghanistan on Sunday
Private Lake was taking part in a patrol to reassure the local population in the Nahr-e Saraj district of central Helmand when he was caught in an explosion

The British Army announces further progress in policing Helmand Province
1 Princess Of Wales Royal Regiment ( 1PWRR) is currently heading up the Police Mentoring and Advisory Group Training Centre in Lashkar Gah and  their first class of Afghan Uniform Police have now successfully completed their 14-week basic training course


Tributes are paid to Lieutenant David Boyce and Lance Corporal Richard Scanlon from 1QDG who were killed in Afghanistan
They were serving with the Formation Reconnaissance Squadron and were on a patrol in Helmand Province, when their armoured vehicle struck an IED

HRH The Duchess of Cornwall visits 4 Rifles on Salisbury Plain

As Royal Colonel-in-Chief she laid a wreath at the regiments memorial and took the salute at a Junior NCO Pass Off parade.

Tributes are paid to Lance Corporal Peter Eustace of 2nd Battalion The Rifles

He was killed on Wednesday by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan.

We hear about the launch of the Army Women's Network

Engineers take part in a major exercise in Germany


Personnel from 28 Engineer Regiment have taken part in a major military exercise, using a variety of vehicles and specialist equipment which has tested their readiness to deploy to any emergency situation


Soldiers from the RMP receive their campaign medals


Often based on the front line in Forward Operating Bases and checkpoints, the personnel from 111 Provost Company RMP provided a range of specialist policing and security support across Helmand province from March to October

The MOD has revealed that British and Afghan soldiers were recently flown into an area of Helmand province which has rarely seen security forces, in an attempt to reassure the local population

The Government announces a package of housing support for the Armed Forces


Government Housing Minister Grant Shapps has pledged to support members of the UK Armed Forces in buying their first home or applying for social housing, as part of a package of housing help

John Marham is a Community Psychiatric Nurse for Combat Stress, who has just opened a monthly veterans' drop-in centre at Colchester.  He has been talking about the new initiative and also how to self-refer if you think you may need a little bit of help with a problem

The Army announces the timetable for the return to the UK of nearly 20,000 troops based in Germany


Beginning in January, around 1800 troops will be relocated to sites across the UK and in addition, Army units will move from Cyprus, while others will move location within the UK earlier than was originally planned


An Army reservist  is named Healthcare Reservist of the Year at the Military and Civilian Health Partnership Awards


He was honoured for his work introducing a new device that keeps patients warm and prevents bleeding from their injuries

3 soldiers from 1st Battalion The Queens Dragoon Guards were on a routine patrol in Helmand Province when their Scimitar Mk2 was engulfed in an explosion. All three soldiers walked away from the incident unharmed

Private Haseldin from 2 Mercian, died in the Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand province - his patrol came under attack from insurgents during which he sustained a fatal gunshot wound
