The Ministry of Defence has revealed that a British soldier's body armour has saved him from a Taliban gunshot during a fierce fire fight in Helmand province and enabled him to shrug off the impact and carry on with his mission

A new, single Government website is launched
The Government Digital Service has formally launched on the internet.  The publication of gov.uk is the first step towards a new single domain that will bring all government services and information together in one place

Representatives from both areas recently met up with representatives of the Armed Forces to sign their respective Armed Forces Community Covenant.  The important new agreements will build on existing good relations between the Armed Forces and public sector organisations in both areas and follow other agreements signed in communities up and down the country

Scots troops in Afghanistan praise their welfare facilities
The guys don't get much time off and work extremely hard during their operations, so it's obviously extremely important that when they do get some R and R, they're able to have access to facilities that we back at home, take for granted

It wants to find new information and exhibits for its "War Story" exhibition, to collect material relating to the war in Afghanistan and tell the story of Op Herrick from the perspective of British service personnel and their families

The Army's been putting more meat on the bones about the construction of additional training facilities on Salisbury Plain.  It was revealed last month that the Defence Infrastructure Organisation had secured planning permission for 50 compounds designed to aid training by helping to replicate conditions in Afghanistan
