Private Leon Wilson, from Manchester, is currently deployed to Afghanistan on attachment to 2nd Battalion The Mercian Regiment and he says that after his miraculous escape, he found another helmet and carried on fighting
Gurkhas (2 RGR) Arrive Back in the UK
Soldiers from 2nd Battalion, The Royal Gurkha Rifles (2 RGR), have just returned from their tour on Op Herrick 9 in Afghanistan. During their time in theatre, the Gurkhas were often in the thick of the conflict, frequently involved in fierce fighting and prolonged battles with insurgents.
