British Forces Launch A Major Offensive Against The Taliban In Afghanistan

More than 350 soldiers from The Black Watch took part in the assault on one of the last Taliban strongholds. Twelve Chinook helicopters, supported by 13 other aircraft including Apache and Black Hawk helicopter gunships, a Spectre gunship, Harrier jets and unmanned drones, were backed up by Royal Engineers and counter-IED teams

The Ministry Of Defence says it's sticking by the Snatch Land rover and it will continue to be used on operations

My Mummy Is A Soldier

A civilian employed at the British Army's Rhine Garrison in Germany has written a book to help the young children of Armed Forces personnel understand their mummy's overseas deployments. "My Mummy Is A Soldier" will also help out children in Afghanistan as cash from the book's sales will be donated to The Afghan Appeal Fund, a registered charity started in 2006 by friends and family of the British soldiers serving in Afghanistan
