There's a tradition in the British Army which says any soldier who has connections with the Irish Guards, no matter where they're serving, should wear a sprig of Shamrock on Saint Patrick's Day. The 1,200 servicemen and women, who are currently in Kenya's Samburu District, therefore had a large consignment of shamrock flown over to them.
