The Army's Fit, Equipped, Motivated, And Ready For Any Challenge

That's according to the current Chief of the General Staff, General Sir David Richards in response to claims by a former head of Special Forces that British forces weren't given the right equipment to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Tributes Have Been Paid To Rifleman Jonathon Allott And Rifleman Liam Maughan from 3 Rifles Who Died In Afghanistan

Giving, determined and selfless are the words used to describe Rifleman Jonathon Allott by his Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Nick Kitson. Rifleman Allott was on an operation to set up a new Patrol Base near Sanguin when he died following an explosion.

A credit to his family and the nation was the tribute paid to Rifleman Maughan by Lt Col Nick Kitson. Rifleman Maughan was shot and killed while in a position of over watch, providing protection to his platoon on a patrol bringing security to the local population.

In second place is Craftsman L T Evans from QRH LAD REME who wins five thousand pounds.

WO2 JS Kelly from 165 Port Regiment RLC in Grantham wins the third prize of two and a half grand.
