The Royal Engineers have built a new bridge across a strategic stretch of canal near to the town of Shaheed. The waterway and crossing was seized by British and Afghan forces as part of operation MOSHTARAK.

The Ministry of Defence has awarded a 30 million pound contract to the company, which produces metal tracks for the vehicles to run on.

A Turner and Sons Butchers have created two sausages, the "pickled pig" and "hair of the hog". They're to be sold to raise cash for help for heroes.
